The Home Based Entrepreneur
 by: Daniel J Thorley

Can you really make money working from home?

That is the key question. How much money is required? There are dozens and dozens of web sites lauding huge amounts of money to be made using this method or that. Can this be the case? There is no doubt that money can be made from a home based business but it will not happen overnight.

Any successful business venture requires commitment, hard work and some luck. You will also need to be totally focussed on the venture or ventures. There is no reason for not having one or two irons in the fire. However, it needs to be borne in mind that too many businesses can spread you too wide. It may be more politic to start with one and then develop when you've tested the water.

It may be that you have decided to start your on line business as a side line running alongside an existing job. However, there is another reason for going full-time into an on line business. You may lose your job and in bad work climates, going for this opportunity means there is nothing to lose. Your dream may just become a reality.

I know of a very successful businessman who worked twenty four seven to get his on line business off the ground. It took several years but he got there in the end big time. Now he is helping people who are now in the position that he once was, and it fills his life with so much joy.

This took hard work, perseverance, imagination, and tenacity but it paid off in the end. He also had a family so to begin with he did a job he hated to pay the bills. Then he lost this job so there was little choice. Quite often necessity is the mother of invention.

There are thousands more would be entrepreneurs who start and because the business doesn't fly straight away get very disillusioned and give up. Anything that is going to have such a positive impact on your life is worth waiting for. Patience is needed here too.

Working for yourself in any business is a very empowering situation. When you begin there us a feeling of optimism and power. You've taken the plunge and there is no-one to tell you what to do. No daily grind and being stuck in traffic for ages.

Tinged with the euphoria, however, should be a certain amount of fear. You are stepping into the unknown. These questions must be rushing through your mind:-

What am I going to do?

How am I going to do it?

Is it going to Work?

Will I make enough to live on?

How will I find customers?

There is plenty of help and advice for any budding entrepreneur who feels these questions are constantly nagging away at them.
